The Architecture of Lutherand Church of Christ (LCCN) Yola

Introduction:

The Church is located along market road Jemaita. And covers some area of at least 150/200m. it headed by a pastor who is answerable to a bishop at the catheredral.

Occasionally, the bishop comes to visit. And whenever he does, he either attends the mass of sit in sacred room, where faithful come to confess their sins behind the curtain and seek of God’s forgiveness. .

Despite being old (more than fifty years) the buildings architectural elements remain intact. Except perhaps for some superficial face lift done on occasions.
The entire area,, consist of the main church, children Sunday class, shops and a secretariat.
The dimension given in this piece are obtained through mental estimation and observation from specific allowable positions.
Description
The building is surrounded by a stone masonry wall about 1.5m high and entered through an iron gate that for most of the time remain ajar possibly symbolizing the openness of the Christian faith.

Located at the centered, the church building consists of a hall, a triforium gallery, the alter and a bell tower.
The stone masonry on the fencing wall , and the bell tower of the Church and the roof all amplified the colonial style  in which the church is built.

Walls
The building is set up on a rectangular plan. Although the wall are laid in a zig-zag manner obviously to control solar effect.

The walls are of cement block rendered with plaster and painted gray. Occasionally however , there are stones masonry on the exterior .e.g the face of the bell bell tower.
The construction of the church wall is really ingenious and offered the best solution to solar and acoustic problems.
As mention earlier he wall is built in a zig-zag pattern on plan. This so that when the sunlight hit on face of the wall the other slanted side is shaded

Doors and Windows
There are four major doors of deeply caved wood. The caving on the wood depicts biblical scenes.

Other metal doors open to the sanctuary and the bell tower.

The windows are high level louver glass windows apparently for easy replacement in case of damage.

The windows brighten the triforium gallery. Small size windows are also placed in stores and toilets.
